To further advance the internationalization of the college, optimize the layout of international communication, deepen overseas scientific research cooperation and international talent cultivation, the School of Mechanical Engineering recently held a special symposium on international communication affairs. Professor Wenhui Li, Dean of the School, and Professor Qing Xu, Vice Dean, attended the meeting and had face-to-face exchanges with returned overseas teachers of the college to discuss plans for international cooperation and development. Relevant persons in charge of the Tianjin International Joint Research Center for Low-Carbon Green Process Equipment and the Tianjin International Joint Research Center for Modern Automotive Safety Technology also participated and delivered special reports.
At the symposium, Professor Zhonghua Wu, Director of the Tianjin International Joint Research Center for Low-Carbon Green Process Equipment, and Professor Haiyan Li, Director of the Tianjin International Joint Research Center for Modern Automotive Safety Technology, delivered detailed reports in succession on core work of their respective centers, including daily operation modes, existing achievements in international cooperation, application for Sino-foreign joint projects, and international talent cultivation. The two directors comprehensively sorted out the progress made by the centers in cross-border scientific research collaboration, academic resource sharing, and young talent cultivation, analyzed the current difficulties and breakthrough directions in their work, and put forward specific ideas for further deepening international exchanges and expanding cooperation channels in light of industry development trends, providing practical references for the college’s overall international communication and scientific research cooperation.

Subsequently, returned overseas teachers spoke one after another. Drawing on their own experience of studying, researching and working abroad, they shared experience in international academic exchanges and cross-cultural communication skills, and actively offered suggestions on topics such as the construction of English-taught courses at the college, international student education, the development of academic platforms, international promotion of scientific research achievements, and the introduction of high-level overseas talents. All participants stated that they would give full play to their overseas resources and professional advantages, actively integrate into the overall international development of the college, and help enhance the college’s international influence and academic competitiveness.
In his concluding speech, Dean Wenhui Li pointed out that returned overseas teachers are the core force for the international development of the college, and the two international joint research centers serve as important windows for the college’s external cooperation. The college will continue to build high-quality exchange platforms, improve the international working mechanism, fully support the application of international cooperation projects, and rely on the advantages of overseas talents and scientific research platforms to comprehensively promote the in-depth integration of international communication, scientific research collaboration and talent cultivation, so as to elevate the internationalization of the School of Mechanical Engineering to a new level.
